saving This is giclée print of an acrylic painting I made in January of 2019. It is printed with archival ink on 55 lb bond paper. The painting was professionally photographed at Dot Editions in Asheville, NC and is signed in pencil beneath the image.
This print is available in 12.75"x15.75" or 17"x21". That includes a half inch border around the image. Can be printed up to 22"x28" upon request. Ships flat.
It was December of 2017 and I was driving down the coast of Eastern Australia with my girlfriend Rachel. Since we had a long drive ahead of us and had slept in the car the night before, we decided to stop at a beach park to brush our teeth and swim in the ocean. I remember feeling inspired by the stark contrast of the advancing storm clouds in the distance against the blue sky receding over head. There was a special kind of electricity in the air, not to mention I was just happy to be traveling in a foreign land. I walked the shoreline and wandered over to some giant rocks sticking out of the ground. In-between those rocks I found a small plaque dedicating the park to a homeless man who had lived on the beach and was known for feeding the birds everyday. I wondered who this man was and what his life was like, living without a home, apart from the code of normal societal standards. I wondered what his relationship with the birds was like. Was it was somehow deeper than the one I knew? I never saw a picture of him and can't even recall his name now, but I was intrigued by his story.
