Rare, Vintage, Ornate Engraved Small Brass Set saving with 6 Stemmed Brass Cups

This is Rare, Vintage, Ornate Engraved Small Brass Tea Set with 6 Stemmed Brass Cups
*Black/Charcoal in appearance, with a lovely sheen. Etching/engraving peeks through the finish, to reveal the underlying brass.

*6 cups with engraving patterns. *All patterns in concert with the engraved designs adorning the teapot.
Pre Owned Condition: The item is in very good condition overall. There is a hole on one of the cups. Due to the presumed age of the item(s) the hinge that affixes the lid to the teapot is a single, antique in appearance, nail, bent at an angle to secure the lid. The nail could be bent further to more securely fasten the lid, though I would like to leave that to the buyer.
I am puzzled by the hole on One of the cups.

I was told by my parents that my grandma used to have a little cup attached to her belt and have a shot of grappa before breakfast lunch and dinner every day. She passed away at the age of 93. Maybe the hole is meant to attach the cup to a belt.... but I'm not sure.
