RESERVED - Vintage black silk kimono saving jacket (haori) with floral accents in urushi lacquer with gold and silver

Vintage black silk kimono jacket (haori) with floral accents in urushi lacquer with gold and silver. The base fabric is a very soft silk with woven accents of different flowers in circles (hananimaru). The woven flowers are complemented with stenciled (silk screened?) flower designs in brown urushi lacquer that are covered in silver gold foil. The "pixelized" designs make it look like fine embroidery. The silk lining is slightly yellowed and features a print of flowers and momiji inside genjiko shapes. The flower designs cover all seasons: peony, plum, chrysanthemum, bamboo, maple, bellflower (botan, ume, kiku, take, momiji, kikyou). There is a stitched gosankiri kamon on the center back. The soft smooth falling fabric, and the delicate woven and complementing stenciled designs make for a very elegant jacket.

A haori is a casual Japanese kimono jacket, that can be worn both inside and outside as an extra layer to stay warm, or to protect the kimono. Haori is loosely closed in front using short ties called himo in Japanese.

Haori can be worn in combination with western clothes, like a cardigan or light jacket. Depending on the design and combination you can create a unique, formal or casual, look.
