Warwickshire, Badeslade & Toms saving original antique map dating from about 1742, An original map of Warwickshire dating from around 1742 By original we mean.
An original map of Warwickshire dating from around 1742. By original we mean this piece of paper has existed since it was originally printed in 1742 it is NOT a reproduction or modern printed copy. saving There are obviously a finite number of these maps which were printed at the time and many of them will not have survived the last 270 years so this is an opportunity to own a piece of history.
Thomas Badeslade was a surveyor and engineer who produced an atlas of maps Chorographia Brittanniae which was engraved and published by W. H. Toms. This map is the first issue of the map which shows only market towns with a list of details on the left hand side.
This map is a copper engraving which has been hand coloured. As well as showing towns and villages, it shows hills, rivers and areas of woodland.
It is now in a conservation quality, acid free mount which ensures its protection and could easily be framed. Any labels shown are on the outer covering which is easily removed. The paper the map is printed on is very good condition for its age, a document which has survived 270 years is rarely pristine in condition.
