Rounding hammer, saving metal dishing

Rounding hammers are used for hot or cold metalwork. This is a heavy steel hammer with curved faces for sheet metal and plate work. Use for armour, automotive, ladels, cookware, dishing, or artistic shaping. These can be used saving on a wooden depression, a flat anvil, or a metal dishing form or swage block. Select the desired hammer weight, shaped for dishing. Each face is ground to a different curve. This is a short-faced hammer (about 1.5" from face to handle).

Start dishing with the gentle curve in a shallow dish. Progress to deeper forms and a smaller hammer radius. This will minimize the "sack of marbles" look and reduce stress concentrations in the workpiece.
