RARE 9X9" SONNY BRAND FLORIDA ORANGE CRATE LABEL. SPADA FRUIT COMPANY, TAMPA, FLORIDA. CIRCA 1930'S. LABEL IS IN FAIR CONDITION, NUMEROUS BLEMISHES ON EDGES AND VERY LARGE TEAR TOP OF LABEL EXTENDING ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE LETTER "N" IN SONNY, PRICED ACCORDINGLY AS SHOWN IN SCAN. ALL LABELS GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC.

Original vintage commercial advertising label. These labels were pasted on the ends of wooden crates packed with oranges lemons apples and other fruits and vegetables. These colorful crates were shipped nationwide via the railway system to saving be sold in the local markets. Packers and growers would order labels from printing companies that specialized in this work, these companies employed commercial artists in large numbers. The artists were not paid well, and rarely received any acknowledgment for there creations. Most commercial use of labels ended during wwii due to commodity rationing and shortages. The cardboard box was adapted to ship fruit and labels were almost completely phased out by the 1950s.

I will ship all items flat, sandwiched between two study pieces of cardboard. Item will arrive in excellent condition and well protected. I usually ship the same day, unless item is purchased after 2pm in which case I will have it out the following morning.
