Made from a nagoya obi, this Japanese shioze silk has a hand painted landscape with a temple. The back side has a smaller version of the image. The sea green lining is 100% cotton with a side pocket on one side and credit card slot on the other. Shioze silk is very lightweight making this fabric heavier than standard kimono silk, but less rigid than standard obi silk. Please note that I also have a pillow cover made from the main section of this obi which includes the artist signature/stamp (see last photo).
Clutch measures approximately 9.5" wide x 5" tall x 2.5" deep. Metal frame in bronze comes with a short chain (chain may vary depending on inventory).
An obi is the beautiful saving "sash" tied around a kimono. The front panel of an obi is usually woven and is a heavier silk, while the backing is in a simpler complementary color silk. Obis are only 12" wide at the widest part. The majority of my purses are made from Fukuro obis, which are one of the most popular "ceremonial" obis worn today in Japan. Because these purses are made from used obis, there may be snags, pulls, or other defects in the fabric.
All my products come from a smoke-free environment.
