Akutokake is heel protector, worn on the waraji, straw flip-flop slippers while working in the field and rice paddle field.
Akuto means the heel of the dialect of northern part of Japan and kake means hang to cover. This type of noragi protects both heel and top of saving the foot.

Indigo-dyed cotton.
One side is solid color of indigo and the other side two-tone colored indigo blue.
Two-tone colored indigo blue is very beautiful.
At least two layers of fabric were stitched.
The stitched fabric is thick and sturdy.

size for each: 13 5/8" (34.5cm) wide
3 3/4" (9.5cm) height.

50 grams for the pair.

Very good vintage condition.
One string is cut and short.
