saving This is a lovely vintage carved jade or aventurine pendant of the mano fico, also called figa. It is an Italian amulet of ancient origin. Examples have been found from the Roman era, and it was also used by the Etruscans. Whether made as an apotropaic gesture or worn as an amulet, the mano fico is used for magical protection against the evil eye. It is also popular in Brazil among the Bahiana people. This Figa is hand carved and has a gold tone top/jump ring. It measures approximately 1.5" long by .4" wide at the fist and would look lovely added to your collection!
