Ceramic and Fiber Mixed Media Wall Hanging: Brown, saving Turquoise, and Cream

This mixed media wall art is handmade from brown stoneware clay and woven fiber. The ceramic area was made from a layered and folded slab of clay with an integrated loom area in the center. The piece was glazed with a "breaking" deep turquoise that shows where it pools and otherwise reveals the clay color.

The woven portion is made from a variety of yarn types including acrylic and wool roving. The section is woven in tones of blue, cream and brown. The wool roving portions are deliberately irregular and lofty to give the design texture and interest.

The back features a series of wall spacers and an integrated wire saving loop for hanging. No special equipment or hardware is needed to hang the piece...Just a hammer and 1 nail.
