Often a rosy pink, kunzite is named after its discoverer, George Kunz. A kunzite ring was famously received by the wife saving of President Kennedy as a final, posthumous symbol of his undying affection.

Characterised by its vivid, translucent swirls of purple and blue, charoite is a spectacular stone named after the River Chara in Russia, the only spot where it is known to have been found.
