Saving Vintage 1902 Needlework Sample

This 1902 sampler has a good story about its origins. When home from school because of illness, Elizabeth asked her grandmother to teach her how to stitch needlework. Her grandmother obliged, and together they drew the garden scene and made this sampler so that Elizabeth could practice the various stitches.

We learned this story from the donor who one morning brought in the framed sampler to the shop and saving told us the story.

Sampler is made from wool on canvas. It is in excellent condition.The original matte is signed by Elizabeth. Frame with glass measures 12" by 15".
