Louis of Granada, b. Louis de Sarría, (born in 1505 in Granada, died on December 31, 1588 in Lisbon) - a Dominican mystic.
Although he came from a rather poor family, the boy's rare oratory talent and quick-wittedness were soon noticed, and his education in the best schools was sponsored. In 1526, he entered the Dominican Order. He taught theology at religious seminaries. The most important works by Louis of Granada are: On Prayer and Meditation (229 Spanish editions), The Guide to Sinners (81 Spanish editions). His works enjoyed phenomenal popularity today, both in Spain and all over Europe, thanks to the zeal of his convictions and the sincerity of his ascetic spirit. Having studied Cicero, he acquired the art of accurate argumentation and a clear, transparent style. To this day, he is considered the canonical stylist of his time in Spanish
