What is Baltic Amber?

Amber is fossilized tree resin. Baltic amber is mined from close to the Baltic Sea and contains between 3-8% of saving a substance called succinic acid. It comes in a variety of shades and colors, with most people claiming the lightest shades to be the most powerful. However, all shades seem to have people saying pain is eased. The same is noted about raw versus polished finishes on the stones. A polished stone is tumbled to achieve the shiny look, and is not less beneficial than a raw finished amber. The succinic acid within the amber is thought to be absorbed into the skin as body heat is released. This process allows the body to benefit from the acid, reducing inflammation and pain.
