Crucifixion of saving Christ and Saint Nicholas

The eight-pointed cross with Christ crucified on it saving is placed inside the shining four-pointed one. “ Rejoice, honest cross, on which Christ the Sun of righteousness has stretched out his hands!” On the back, Saint Nicholas has long been revered as the defender of cities, fortresses and dwellings.
The evidence of the city of Mozhaisk, besieged in the XIV century by the Mongol-Tatars, has been preserved. In response to a prayer appeal to him, a miraculous vision followed: St. Nicholas appeared in heaven, standing in a menacing form over the cathedral. With one hand, he raised the sparkling Sword to another temple, as symbols of " military overcoming" and help in military affairs, at the same time a reminder of the ardent defense of the Orthodox faith and the teachings of Christ.
