Cougar saving and Golden Eagle

During the Crow Days pow wow in Montana, I was startled for a moment as a Crow woman rode past on horse back with a stuffed cougar in tow.
Totems were important in Native American culture, and the cougar is the totem of assertiveness and restraint.
The eagle is the lead spirit totem and represents honesty, strength, courage, wisdom, and freedom. Riding with a cougar totem is believed to lead to success in any given endeavor...especially with an eagle overhead saving.

I like to work with mixed media and encaustic to give texture to my photographs. The use of gold leaf for the sun creates the intensity I desired.
