They first started out producing bricks to help rebuild structures damaged by the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, under the name Haeger Brick and Tile Company. This lasted for about 30 years until 1914, when they turned their attention to making artware, under the direction of Edmund Haeger. Martin Stangl was one of their first designers, working on Arts & Crafts style wares.

During the 1934 World's Fair, they had an actual working factory setup, introducing customers to some of the products Haeger made.

In 1938, they introduced the Royal Haeger line in honor of one of their designers, Royal Arden Hickman. It was also the year Edmund Haeger's son-in-law, Joseph Estes, was promoted to general manager.

In 1947, Eric Olsen joined the company, introducing the Diamond Jubilee line. It was 1950's modern decor, with figural lamps, mystic priests and more.

Today, Haeger Pottery is still in operation today making lamp bases and florist wares, under the direction of Joseph Estes' daughter, Alexandra Haeger Estes.
