saving Early 20thC Penny Rug
Going through the “projects” bins I found this satin pillow cover with a wool Penny rug front. The two fabrics are so unusual to use together, wool and satin , that you really can't appreciate the Penny rug.
It was my intent to cut the Penny rug from the pillow case and hem it under as it would make a very nice table mat.
Measuring 16 by 14 inches, the Penny rug measures 11 by 10 inches. Condition is very good with signs of wear attendant with age and use. Most of the discs are in good shape save for 2 or 3 that have some
moth damage. They have been like this since I purchased it and have not changed.
This will make a nice table mat for the person who chooses to do the work on it. I also think that it would be fine as the pillow it was intended to be.
